Stillroom
A NOTE FROM THE ROOM

Nothing to keep up with.

Stillroom is a small browser room for a rainy afternoon, a slow start, or the ten minutes before the next thing.

Music is composed as you listen. Notes, harmony, rhythm, record texture, rain, and room sounds are generated locally with browser audio. The scene is drawn locally too. There are no songs to browse and nothing to stream from a catalog.

There is no account, feed, or streak. Settings stay in this browser. If you choose to copy a room link, its music settings (including music volume) and composition seed travel in that link; room appearance and room-sound preferences do not.

A little room, made carefully

Stillroom uses a deterministic seed for its composition, so the same seed and settings can describe the same musical choices. Change the seed for a fresh arrangement. The local sound is synthesized, not sampled from commercial recordings.

The experience works best in a current desktop or mobile browser with Web Audio and WebGL. Browsers can pause audio when a device locks, an output changes, or a tab is suspended. Press play to resume. A quieter version remains on screen if the animated scene is unavailable.

Stillroom is an ambient music toy. It makes no promises about sleep, focus, or health.
